Trust & Safety

Trust isn't a feature here. It's the product.

Letting someone into your home, or walking into a stranger's, only works if both people are checked, the task is documented and there is a clear path out if something goes wrong. That is what this page is about.

How safety is built in

Fourteen things that stand between you and a bad afternoon.

Phone verification

Every account begins with a working phone number confirmed by a one-time code. One number, one account, which makes throwaway profiles much harder.

Government-ID (Aadhaar) verification

Before anyone can accept a task, their identity is confirmed through an authorised verification partner. We keep the verification result, not your identity document.

Live selfie check

A live selfie is matched against the verified identity, so the person who signed up is the person who turns up.

A 0–100 trust score you can read

Built from completed verification, tasks finished, ratings received, cancellations and reports. You see the number and what's behind it before you accept anyone.

Badges

Visible marks for verified identity, consistent ratings, punctuality and experience in a category: quick signals when you're deciding in thirty seconds.

Two-way ratings and reviews

Posters rate helpers and helpers rate posters. Both sides have a reputation to protect, which is why most tasks go smoothly.

Task tracked until the job is done

You pay when you post. The amount is held securely and released to the helper only after you approve the completed task.

A one-time arrival code

The helper cannot start the task until you give them your short code at the door. No code, no start, and no way to claim a job was done when nobody arrived.

Live tracking to your door

Once your task is accepted, follow the helper on a map with an ETA, the same way you'd track a food delivery. Tracking ends when the task ends.

In-app chat, no phone numbers

Send directions, photos and a flat number in a private one-to-one chat. You never have to hand over your personal number.

Emergency contacts and 112

An emergency button in the app reaches your saved contacts and India's 112 emergency number quickly, from either side of a task.

Share your live location with trusted contacts

Let a family member follow your location while a task is on, useful for helpers travelling to a new address, and for anyone home alone.

Digital gate pass

For gated societies, the accepted task can generate a pass so security knows exactly who is coming in, for whom and when.

Reporting and disputes

Report a person or raise a dispute directly from the task screen. Our team reviews the chat, photos and history before deciding.

Safety tips if you're posting a task

  • Keep task chat, changes and completion confirmation in the app so there is a clear record if support is needed.
  • Only share your arrival code at your door, and only with the person whose photo matches the profile.
  • Read the trust score and the last few reviews before accepting a helper.
  • For indoor tasks, have someone else at home if you can, and keep valuables and documents out of the working area.
  • Take a photo before and after for anything you'll want to check later.
  • Mark the task complete only when the agreed work is done.

Safety tips if you're helping

  • Read the task fully before accepting. If the description changes at the door, don't do more than you agreed. Update the task in the app instead.
  • Share your live location with a trusted contact for any task at an unfamiliar address.
  • Keep agreements and task updates in the app so support can review them if needed.
  • Don't take on work that needs a licence you don't hold, or anything that termls unsafe. Declining is always allowed.
  • Keep the chat in the app, so there's a record if there's a disagreement later.
  • If anyone is rude, unsafe or asks you to break the rules, end the task and report it.

Limits

What we do not allow

Some tasks are off the platform entirely, not because they're unpopular, but because they cannot be done safely or legally by a neighbour.

  • Anything illegal, and anything involving drugs, alcohol, tobacco or controlled substances
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Medical, nursing, diagnostic or prescription tasks
  • Handling someone else's valuables, cards, banking credentials, OTPs or transactions
  • Work needing a licence we don't verify: mains electrical, gas fitting, structural, legal or financial advice
  • Childcare or eldercare that requires a professional qualification
  • Adult or sexual services
  • Anything unsafe, degrading or discriminatory
  • Task arrangements moved outside Helpora, and fake or impersonated profiles

How we handle your data

We collect what is needed to verify people, match tasks, operate tasks and keep both sides safe, and nothing beyond that. Identity verification is carried out by an authorised partner; we retain the verification status, not your full Aadhaar number. Location is used only while a task is active or when you choose to share it. We do not sell personal data.

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, and withdraw consent, at any time.

Safe enough to use for your own parents.
