Community Guidelines

Last updated: Aug 2026 · Applies to Helpora Pvt. Ltd. and the Helpora platform.

Helpora Pvt. Ltd. operates a technology platform that connects neighbours for everyday tasks. We act as an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Helpers are independent individuals who use the platform, and are not employees or agents of Helpora. This document applies to your use of the Helpora website and app, is governed by the laws of India, and the English version prevails wherever it is translated.

Helpora Pvt. Ltd. ("Helpora", "we", "us", "our"), which operates the Helpora platform, keeps these guidelines short and human. They describe how good neighbours behave, and the consequences when someone doesn't.

1. Treat every neighbour as an equal

A helper is a neighbour doing a job, not a servant. A poster is a neighbour who needs something, not a nuisance. Speak to each other the way you would want your own family spoken to.

No shouting, no name-calling, no comments about someone's appearance, background or circumstances. If a task is done well, say so. A kind word costs nothing and means a lot.

2. Turn up, and turn up on time

If you accepted a task, someone is waiting for you. Arrive when you said you would. If you're delayed, say so in the chat straight away. Most people are understanding about a delay and nobody is understanding about silence.

Posters: be available at the time you set, ready with your arrival code. A helper who walks over to a locked door has lost the same time you would have.

3. Be honest about the task

  • Describe the work accurately, including the parts that are unpleasant or heavy.
  • Don't add work at the door. If the job grows, update the scope in the app first.
  • Helpers: only accept what you can genuinely do well. Saying "this isn't for me" is always fine.
  • Describe the real time, effort and materials involved.

4. Rate honestly

Ratings are how everyone else decides who to trust. Rate what actually happened, not how you terml about the weather, or a delay neither of you controlled. Don't trade ratings, don't pressure anyone for five stars, and don't threaten a bad rating to get something extra.

5. Keep task details on the platform

Keep agreements and task updates inside Helpora. Off-platform arrangements means no held amount, no dispute review and no record, and it is the single most common way people get cheated. It is also a breach of our Terms.

6. No harassment, ever

No sexual advances, comments or content. No threats, intimidation or repeated unwanted contact. No following someone, and no contacting them outside the app after a task has ended unless they have clearly invited it. This applies equally to both sides, and there is no version of it we tolerate.

7. No discrimination

Nobody on Helpora may be refused, rated down, spoken to differently or excluded because of caste, religion, gender, region, language, disability or age. Tasks that state discriminatory conditions are removed. This one is not negotiable.

8. Zero tolerance for unsafe behaviour

  • Never arrive intoxicated or under the influence.
  • Never bring anyone with you who is not part of the task.
  • Never take a risk with someone's home, children, pets or belongings.
  • If a situation termls unsafe, leave and report it. Nobody at Helpora will question that decision.

9. Respect your neighbour's privacy

What you see inside someone's home stays there. Don't photograph a home or its contents beyond what the task needs. Don't share addresses, phone numbers, photos or chat messages with anyone else, or post them publicly. Don't contact someone's family or society group about a disagreement. Raise it with us instead.

10. What happens when these are broken

  • A warning for a first, minor issue: a late arrival, a careless message.
  • Reduced visibility or a lower trust score for repeated lateness, cancellations or poor ratings.
  • Suspension while we investigate a serious report.
  • Permanent removal for harassment, discrimination, unsafe behaviour, fraud, off-platform arrangements or prohibited tasks.
  • Reporting to the authorities where the law requires it.

We look at the whole picture (the chat, the photos, both accounts' history) before we act, and you can appeal through Grievance Redressal.

11. Reporting someone

Use Report on the task screen, or write to contact@helpora.app. Reports are confidential: the other person is told that a report was made and what rule is in question, not who raised it, unless a legal process requires it. Also see Prohibited Tasks & Acceptable Use.
